128MB upgrade definitely still useful, especially in MAMEoX, but also others.

XBMEMCHECK.XBE to test RAM

And ramdelimit was specifically written to patch retail games, to my knowledge.  Most homebrew these days already support 128MB.

where can you get the upgrade? or could you do the upgrade yourself?

KingViper does ram installs.  He did mine, and an excellent job at that!
It is possible to do it yourself, however I would recommend not doing it.  It takes a heavy degree of skill and confidence, not to mention practice with soldering SMDs.

i'll post up some pictures of my 128 mb upgrade once i have installed it (expect it towards the weekend). brand new memory chips are around £30.00, final pricing depends on how long the installation process is.

i'll report back with my findings for the weekend.

Folks in the USA should send a PM to A@ron, lookformeb, or KingViper (all here on this forum) for 128MB upgrades.

Certaily possible to do it yourself... 400 pins seperated by .02mm of space... Are you up to it?  biggrin.gif

Perplexer, check your PM please..

BTW, I can deal with people in the UK if they can't find someone over there.

yup as can I deal with people in the UK or worldwide, shipping will be more expensive of course but not a problem to do it at all. The extra RAM also helps with Linux a lot also in addition to XBMC, Surreal, and MAMEoX.

I honest to god didnt think it was that bad to do.  I used Kingvipers videos as a guide, and practiced a few time on some other motherboards I didnt need just to be sure I could handle it.

Of course, most dont share my opinion

Iriez hasn't jumped in here, but when I asked the same question months ago, he said that the 128MB upgrade isn't really worth it (or perhaps he said it's not near as noticeable) without the CPU upgrade (that you get w/ the DreamX).

It's like beer and weed -- neither one is near as good w/o the other.

Interesting you say that... I agree with Perplexer here:

128MB RAM (and Dream-X 1.4GHz upgrade!  tongue.gif )

I had upgraded my "old" mobo to 128MB RAM before getting the Dream-X, and honestly, the 64MB -> 128MB RAM seems to make a bigger difference than 733MHz -> 1.4GHz.

You need to get some better weed then.

Easy -- two Xboxes.
Honestly though, I only own like 6-7 Xbox games, and rarely play them.

Those actually aren't my words, but thought they fit.  Also, I'm moving to Hawaii in a few months. smile.gif
