Chimp: Upgrading My Hdd After Softmod Help!
« on: February 08, 2015, 02:23:00 PM »

Hi all. I just performed the Splinter Cell exploit and I have successfully completed the Single Boot soft mod using Softmod Installer Deluxe 5.11 via a USB drive.

I'm using the 2.1.6.8 of Chimp. This is located in my Apps folder (I installed it per the instructions, having to put the linux config file somewhere else (forgot) and I've been opening it from XBMC.

If you are using a good install version of Chimp2618 and your description of what you're doing is accurate then it sounds like you've made a slight mistake in the technique.

Two hours later, the drive finishes cloning. But interestingly enough, I cannot lock this one either.

there is a really easy solution to this. tin two pieces of small/short wire. Tape it to your motherboard with the exposed wire (with solder on it) is overtop of the TSOP points. Apply soldering iron for 2 seconds. Wait 10 seconds to cool. Trim wire (safely). Repeat on bottom point.. Create a Xectuor 5035 INI file and copy it to your C:\

I think I may need to just ignore that line that says "Locked: No" in Chimp and fiddle around with the jumper settings more. I'm also going to plug the HDDs into my Mac to verify if they are truely locked (locked drives cannot initialize in Windows 7 nor in Mac OSX). I don't mind doing the TSOP mod, but I'm thinking it may not be necessary if the solution is for me to try different jumper settings after verifying that it's locked or not.

When I plug the 500GB drive up to OSX, it acts as a locked drive. Can't erase, format it, or anything. I'm assuming that chimp is indeed locking the drive.

Seems like through research that Chimp is a great program and one should not second guess whether it clones correctly. It does. I should not suspect a problem with the clone.

The rigmarole of buying adapters until finding one that works undercuts the position that SATA drives are cost-saving alternatives to PATA ones, which even NIB on ebay aren't expensive at all.
