Need Help Upgrading Hdd

HeXEn is actually designed to install a Shadow C by default. But you should be able to temporarily turn Shadow C off for just the sort of reason you described whatever softmod you used. Do a search and I'm sure you'll find how to do it.

Are you sure the MS dash isn't working? Using the UnleashX dash check the Config.xml carefully and near the top it will tell you what .xbe your Xbox is using when trying to launch the MS dash. Typically it is C:\msdash.xbe but can be anything post softmod.

Then go the its location and see if an .xbe of that name is there, and working or not, if it is there then it should have launched the MS dash. It indicates you do have some sort of problem.

However if there is no .xbe of the name shown in the Config.xml click the .xbes on the C:\drive one at a time and see what they launch. With Shadow C protection there is no danger in doing this although some renamed .xbes will likely try to launch MS dash Live Updater which will probably stall the Xbox or force a reboot to your main dash.

If none turn out to be the MS dash try the E:\drive. Assuming you find it you'll then need to edit the Config.xml to show the correct name and location. Reboot and your main dash MS Dashboard menu option should now work.

Much the same applies to EvoX, just edit its .ini text file instead instead and in XBMC you need to go into the setting and put it in as the Custom Dash path.

Alternatively you could simply point the Config.xml etc at the MS dash .xbe you should have made in E:\Backup pre-softmod. In practical terms it makes very little difference if you do it this way but the fact is it shouldn't be necessary.

If you have a problem that can't be fixed by a bit of text file editing then use HeXEn, this forum's most recommended toolset, it is your best bet to clean up and fix whatever is wrong,
