Hi,

Just dragged out the old Xbox and it boots to Error 7. Have tried reseating cables etc to no avail and I suspect a dead HDD. I was hoping to rebuild a new HDD but the DVD ROM in the Xbox is long gone.

However, I do have a backup of the HDD from when it was first upgraded.

Is there a way I can rebuild a drive from this backup without needing to boot the Xbox from a DVD first (ie. use the PC to rebuild the drive)?

The box is modded with an old Matrix chip which is booting with a green light indicating it is working OK still.
