they should work if you get the right kind for your xbox. dont get memorex. if they dont work, then just install a pc-dvd drive.

First off, to answer your original question:

Yes. You can burn an ISO that is smaller than 722,xxx,xxx in size to a 80min CD-RW. I forget what the max size is for the 74min, but it's something like 68x,xxx,xxx (650MB is not 650,000,000 bytes, but a bit more actually)

The ISO, if small enough can work on both DVD-R/RW and CD-RW.

You may need to tweak your DVD (see the tutorials), or you may even need to go to the extreme of using a PC DVD-ROM drive (again, there are tutorials), since the Xbox drives are notoriously picky. They were designed form the get-go not to run CD-Rs (for obvious reasons).

I've had luck with CD-RWs, more so after tweaking the pot. DVD-RWs have worked well too. Both have the advantage of being erasable and reusable. I've remade several DVD-RWs that didn't turn out for one reason or another. Often, reburning a CD-RW gave me a "better" copy to run, as well.
