No "in-game" Digital Sound
« on: June 09, 2013, 03:56:00 PM »

Hi,

Finally picked up a cheap surround system with optical in that supports DD and DTS and hooked it up to the xbox. It works fine in digital stereo (always) and 5.1 surround with XBMC, but won't output anything at all in game, though the surround system displays it is receiving a 5.1 signal.

I've tried swapping monster cables for the official HD pack and tried three different xbox systems with Half-Life 2 and Halo 2 with no luck. Is there something different about the output when in game? I also haven't had any luck with my xbox 360 in 5.1 (digital stereo works) , so I am suspecting there is some issue with my surround system though this doesn't make sense with 5.1 movies working fine.

Anything I'm missing or does it sound like the surround system is the problem?

I've tried all that. Must be something the surround system doesn't like. It's some OLD JVC cheap surround system.. doesn't make sense that 5.1 DD works with XBMC though. (DTS on or off it works.)
