Xbox Compression Boot Cd?! @%^&"£$*
« on: January 17, 2003, 11:39:00 AM »

I found this whilst wandering round the net, and would like your opinions on it.

It claims to use an "xbox.dll" file with WinZip to compress XBox games onto CDR/DVDR, which you then burn with the bin/cue provided, and the XBox can read the contents of the compressed archive of the game.

Not sure about it myself, has anyone seen/heard/used this?
Is it fake or is it for real?
I`m guessing the latter but we`ll see

Link to the file is here
get the full thing here + instructions.. it works .. actually worked once out of 3

TIA...

Hmm.. I highly doubt this. And the file isn't even there.

Probably goes into the same group as the "Xbox Boot CD" that I've seen being sold, that is completly worthless.

That's complete horseshit.  The following is the itemized horseshit:

1) In the pics they have a Halo DVD in the PC DVD-ROM drive of the computer.
2) This Halo DVD has all Win32 files like setup.exe, setup.dll, etc.
3) To utilize this compression, all you do is copy the DLL into the WinZip folder and zip as usual, which implies that WinZip has native support for this Xbox Compression and only requires the DLL be in the folder.
4) The finished product is a zip file, which you evidently just put a data CD, and the Xbox evidently mounts it as a drive??

Should I go on?
