that is all total bullshit.. we will never see graphics like that in real gameplay for a another few years or so.. EA cant even do those graphics on Mega power computers with thier games right now how are they gonna do that on the next gen consoles that are still 1/2 the power of our monster computers?

lets take the fastest computer setups right now

Athlon 64, 3400+ / 3.8ghz Prescott overclocked to 4.4ghz
PCI-E motherboard
1GB dual channel ram with optimise latency settings.. 2-3-3-6
Geforce 6800GT, 256MB DDR2 PCI-E / ATI 850XT , 256MB DDR3 PCI-E

with these setups right now at those speeds.. somthing i think even Ps3 or Xbox 2 will never reach those specs, current EA games on PC like NFS:U2 , sims 2, EA sports etc etc .. still look like shit compared to those concept art/ mockups they provided in your link..

Doom 3 and now Half Life 2 showed the most realistic graphical envoriments with direct x9 and raising new bars and setting new standards and still they dont even look close to those EA concept art.. lol

i know the developers will optimize the games to the console hardwares, but guys dont be fooled.. until we can run and see those kind of graphics in our PC games, you wont see them in consoles..

The AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 is quite significantly better than the 3400+... The 3400+ is more or less equal to the FX-51, the first in the line of the FX series.

you really know nothing about computers.... setting aside the fact that you put up specs for a midrange-budget computer and listed some ati card not in existance...

why are you even bringing up pc's when ea develops for both consoles and pc, and in the end pc titles are usually a port from a console and will never be able to take advatage of the .01 percent of pc users who have a vapor cooled pc of death. (dual 6800ultras come to mind)

ah i dont know about those shots... specialy from ea. But i wouldnt be suprised if games look better then halflife 2 and doom3.... im sure those will be like the standard. since im sure the doom3 and halflife 2 engines will be used alot in next gen system (both those games were pretty much made to sell the engines) Im sure the next gen systems will be stronger then the mainstream pcs people have these days plus they dont have to worry about the os slowing it down... im sure graphics will be intense.

but anyways fuck EA.

It all depends.

It is flat-out impossible to truly replicate Doom 3 or Half-Life 2 on a TV.  A normal TV has a 300x240 resolution.

That's it.

Hopefully the XBox 2 will have 1080p support, but still that means buying a rather expensive TV to see those graphics.

laugh.gif ) Graphics would look at least as good as Resident Evil 4.   But with a much more powerfull console systems, American programers can make good graphics with out too much trouble.  It is a known fact that Japanesse programers are the king of graphics optimizations.  I mean why are most games made by large japanese gaming companies such as Capcom, Tecmo, Konami, and Nintendo can keep pushing curent systems to thier deepest limits, While American progamers grapghics either improve slightly or stays the same?

Because better hardware makes it easier to make better graphics.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AS for PC games, there is a reason why PC games don't look as good as they should.

First of all, with a console system, there is no overhead from the OS.  100% of the consoles resources is dedicated to the game.   Second, PC gmes must be playable with the minimum System Requirements.   So therefore,  games graphics will only be able to scale with resolution,  texture quality, lighting, and special effects.  While with  a console system , the Hardware is all the same, which means that game graphics can be tweaked to the systems limits because, they know everyone who owns the system that the games is being made for will be able to use it.  Just imagine the vast   varaities of PC hardware setups and how hard it would be to optimize game graphics so that it would play well on all and look as best as it can.

It is very hard.

Doom 3 has it's own engine.  Howeber Halflife 2 uses the Havock engine.  This is an engine is used in lots of games. For example Max Payne 2 and t lots of other games that have ragdoll physics use this engine.  But yes valve did a very good job of tweaking the engine to fit thier needs.

The xbox 2 is suposed to use ATI's next gen card.  So it should be able to render grafics that are better than the best computers do now.  This system has been reported to be able to fully use the next unreal engine wich has amazing grafics.

Source is the Graphics engine, Havoc is the physics engine used in HL2.
