It does, but again like how one comment said, "It's nothing without Gameplay."

that is all total bullshit.. we will never see graphics like that in real gameplay for a another few years or so.. EA cant even do those graphics on Mega power computers with thier games right now how are they gonna do that on the next gen consoles that are still 1/2 the power of our monster computers?

lets take the fastest computer setups right now

Athlon 64, 3400+ / 3.8ghz Prescott overclocked to 4.4ghz
PCI-E motherboard
1GB dual channel ram with optimise latency settings.. 2-3-3-6
Geforce 6800GT, 256MB DDR2 PCI-E / ATI 850XT , 256MB DDR3 PCI-E

with these setups right now at those speeds.. somthing i think even Ps3 or Xbox 2 will never reach those specs, current EA games on PC like NFS:U2 , sims 2, EA sports etc etc .. still look like shit compared to those concept art/ mockups they provided in your link..

Doom 3 and now Half Life 2 showed the most realistic graphical envoriments with direct x9 and raising new bars and setting new standards and still they dont even look close to those EA concept art.. lol

i know the developers will optimize the games to the console hardwares, but guys dont be fooled.. until we can run and see those kind of graphics in our PC games, you wont see them in consoles..

What you are writing is bullshit, almost the whole gaming industry is controlled by the currently available consoles and EA releases almost everygame to all platforms which is why they don't have good looking games  and you obviously haven't seen Team ninjas games, doa:u in particular which is the best looking xbox game so far and surpasses many new top pc games and it's hard to believe what they could do with a machine that is maybe 20 times more powerful.

remmber that even though consoles are roughly half the power of PCs out at the tim eof launch they still run games just as good or better because there is no OS overhead (windows is a fucking resource HOG)

also, bear in mind that graphics will always look better on a PC monitor than a TV (unless its an HDTV in 1080i) because of a monitors high resolution

I'd say that Doom 3 and Half-Life 2's graphics maxed out are pretty close to those concepts.

Look at the screen shots for Oblivion, and it looks like we're not that far off.

Heck, the PS2 is behind the XBox in terms of graphics capabilities, yet Final Fantasy X had beautiful models in game, with facial expressions.  It's not unreasonable to think we might start seeing facial expressions in EA titles on next-gen consoles.

Well it takes a top of the line pc to play Doom 3 Perfect or Half Life2. Now Doom3 is supposed to be coming out for Xbox with no noticeable differences. Its all about dedication. Pc's can do tons of things while a Xbox’s main purpose is a dedicated game console. Plus the games are usually made specifically for it so it can handle more then expected.

There will definately be some noticable differences when Doom3 gets ported to the XBox.  Even if the games plays at 480p or 720p, it's nothing compared to playing the game at something like 1600x1200.

The XBox also only has 64 megs of memory.  No doubt, the game will use slightly lesser textures.  It's just impossible to handle the lighting, with max textures on those models with 64 megs of memory.

yall hve to understand that an xbox is roughly a geforce 3 and it is capible of the graphics that it does.

pc game makers arent capible of maxing out a graphic card's abilites because, like antother poster said, they have to worry about overhead and backward capatibilty.

imagine if an xbox or ps2 any game console had the newest line of pc graphic cards in it and the developers knew that they had one platform to develop for and they could max out the power. games would look crazy

I woundn't be the least bit surprised if the XBOX2/PS3 could do realtime graphics like those screenshots.  Like has been pointed out already, but I'll repeat for good measure:

1.  PC Games dont look that good becuase they need to keep themselves within available hardware limits.  In other words, the lowest COMMON denominator is the system they shoot for.  If your game ONLY runs on a P4 3.8GHZ 2MB/L2 Cache 800FSB 4GB DDR2 400MHZ nVidia 6800GT 256MB (you get teh point)..  your only going to sell 10000~ copies as not everyone has that setup.. yeah, the game may look fucking awesome, but not many people could appreciate it.

2.  Console games are able to take FULL advantage of EVERY system resource, little or nothing else is running while the game runs.  They can be optimized to take advantage of the dedicated hardware, every system is the same.  The only time that graphics start to fall is when the game is made "cross platform".. we all know that games that appear on all three systems dont look anywhere near as good as games that are console exclusive.
