I paid $70 a piece for those logitec controllers.  I would hate to see $140 worth of controllers go to waste.

i think it will be the same as what sony did.  make the controllers usable, but add new buttoms and features to the new one, so its possible but not to ur advantage to use the old one.

Nintendo has managed to change their controllers with each system.

And no one has really complaned.

And when you think about it, each controller has been something new or special:

Original - nothing new, because there was nothing to change!
SNES - Shoulder buttons, YX buttons
N64 - 3 prong design, C buttons, Z, 2 pads
GCN - funky L R buttons, odd Z placement, rotatable C buttons

I don't like the idea of four triggers.  I personally like the current XBOX controllers, but I would also welcome a change.  I guess that means I am undecided.  I just don't want the triggers to not be triggers like PS2 (which were obviously buttons, and had no feel of triggers to them).

It would be great if they were different controllers with different connectors, as long as the breakaway is the same, that way you can just swap out from the breakaway cable.  I think that is what tonloc79 was getting at.

Exactly my man!! wink.gif  That would be great but if they change the controller design at all then theres really no point to the old controllers unless they find a smart way to where both controllers are fully functional!

I am just saying it would be good if the only thing they changed was the position or the type of black and white button (makingthem triggers, or some other kinds of buttons).  That way the function would still be there, just in different design.

I think it will still be some specific MS controller connector.  Even if it is still USB, they can make sure that not everyone is going to just plug in some sort of USB device that does a soft mod and there you go.  I mean, I like not having USB ports.  I like the current ports for style too (even if they are USB at heart).

yeah with the way MS describes their new controllers it looks like it'll be USB definitely. Though we might need an adapter if we want to use the old controllers.

MS has certainly gone the way of trying to "suck money out of you". Its pretty clear what their intentions are for the most part. As long as they can get money and cover their ass from the law then they'll probably go ahead with doing that.

Even though I don't like how MS tries to get every penny from users, it's still a good way of doing business.

Technically the could make the old controllers work if the new trigger buttons were wired to the old black and white buttons.  However, games would be difficult to play if you needed to get to those buttons as they suck where they are now.

Either way M$ said you can plug the stuff into a Windows PC.  They may mean that you need an adaptor, but I doubt it.  I'm guessing that the new controllers will be pure USB 2.0
