"blu" Ray Drive With Red Laser?
« on: August 31, 2009, 11:38:00 AM »

I have worked on quite a few Blu Ray drives and have always found that the lasers are purple.

I just dug into one that the history is questionable and the laser is red.

Is there a Blu Ray drive with a Red Laser?  Or had someone already swapped out the BRD's actual laser?

Hmmmmm.  Strange..

All the BluRay drives I have every worked on (at least a couple dozen) all had purple lasers.

This one is the first one I have had that had a red laser.

Ahhhh

So, you are saying that the "purple" laser I saw on all the others was actually the result of a red and blue laser within the setup.

So, logically, if I am only seeing a red laser, that indicates that the blue laser is toast.

Make sense??
