You can grab a 3000+ 512KB L2 Cache socket 939 for around $170.  Check newegg, mwave, excaliberpc, etc. for prices.

actually 70 bucks more but it might be worth it. How much power would I be losing if I were to downgrade to the 754 pins witha 3400+ it would be much cheaper because the shuttle 754 system is also much cheaper

There isn't a 3400+ for socket 939, only for socket 754 at the moment.

You can grab a 3200+ 939 for $225 and easily overclock it to 3500+ speeds.  Those winchesters chips OC like champs.  It is only a difference of 200mhz anyways.  Plus you would be saving $124 compared to the 3500+ 939 for $359.

IMO, save cash and grab the 3000+ or 3200+ and overclock it.

The Shuttle barebones are decent for OCing.  200mhz is easily obtainable.

There is a 3400 939, it runs at 2.2Ghz just like the 3500. I got it from Newegg in the OEM section. I have it and it runs great. Cost $200 compared to 3500-939 2.2 $279. Same thing.

Definitely get 939, the dual core CPU's coming out (FX-57,Q3-05) will require only a Bios flash to operate and work with all 939 chipsets. The DFI NForce4 ultra or SLI are the boards to have at the moment.

EDIT:DFI Nforce4 Specs and Benches

considering there are rumors that amd may unveil a new socket for the dual cores.. i wouldent take that info on the 939 to heart.. s754 chips are cheaper and faster.. a s754 3000+ is 2.0ghz and $146 retail... a s939 3000+ is 1.8ghz and $190 retail.. i went with 754 because i was very tight on $$$.. and i easily get 2.2GHZ out of this chip.. which is the stock speed of a s939 3500+..

Well I guess Ill have to bite the bullet because the case that I like only comes with a 939 board. Ill buy that and either a 3200+ or a 3500+ depending on how much cash I end up with.

zipzoomfly used to be googlegear.com

Go to www.resellerratings.com to check previous customer's feedback for any particular website reseller.

Others online websites I purchase from are:
excaliberpc.com
svc.com
mwave.com
gameve.com
