Ok, Ive Been Searching For 2 Hours, But No Luck
« on: July 14, 2004, 08:31:00 PM »

basically, i have found everything i need except some temperature monitoring software for my GPU

i have a ATI RADEON GIGABYTE 9800 pro (128mb) video card, and i am going to be overclocking it with ATITOOL, but i need some sort of software to monitor the GPU's temperature???

if it helps, ill be using an ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe mobo

thanks

Case with LCD installed should probably do that.

ATITOOL says it will support 9800 pro monitoring, but that version is still in development, so im getting close

or, does the GPU (with a upgraded cooler, like an artic cooling 2 cooling) not need to be worried about?

thanks, i didnt want to have to do it, but it made me feel better

well, since software seems a bit out of reach

if i were to use my thermal probe on my computer case, where should i put it?
can i put it directly between the heatsink and gpu, since the gpu is larger and it wouldnt hurt cooling?

or does the gpu not get hot enough to worry about it?

wouldnt you break your thermal probe when you clipped the heatsink on?
just get it as close to the cntre of the GPU die as possible either between the die and the pcb or on the heatsink itself

but should i really be worried with a high end cooler on an overclocked card?

do they get that hot?

How overclocked is it and what kinda cooler are you using?

I'm using Zalman 80C or whatever it is, and I overclock to 413.5/398.5 with no problem on my 9800pro. With no fan it runs hot to the touch (heatsink) but no problems with it. I wire tied a Panaflo 57CFM 92mm fan to it when I got sick of it raising my overall system temps because of the hot air staying in there.

It's nice and cool to the touch now.

Don't worry about it unless you can burn your hand on the heatsink, or at least sting it. If it's hot enough to do that, it's time to upgrade your cooling.

im going to be overclocking a 9800 pro, i dont know how much yet

but im using a Artic Cooling revision 2 cooler, its the one that cools the gpu, and pushes the hot air out of the case

i just wanted to know, because id rather use the thermal probe on my overclocked cpu

Eh, it should be fine. Don't expect very high yields from it though.

actually, on all the reviews ive seen, people have been able to overclock there cards more with it then with other high end models

mainly because it also helps push hot air out of the computer itself, which helps in overall temps
