Yet it is undeniable that atrocities have been carried out at the Abu Ghraib prison with the knowledge and tacit approval of senior US officials.

So although there have been well documented fake photographs for which there is NO excuse, there has still been systematic abuse in the now to be (conveniently) closed Abu Ghraib prison.
