Forgive me for sounding ignorant, butis there a write solution for 0225?
if not, this is like developing a bullet that can go through anything without a gun to load it in.

I'm guessing since they are in testing stage they have written the firmware to actual drives in order to test...

most likely they are writing 9504 as 0225 drive, but once its 0225 its write locked, even c4e states 0225 can not be written to

so how can they flash the 0225 drive if it is unwritable, i don't understand. if it cannot be written to i do not see how the drive can be flashed, is it a kind of spoofing then...............sudeki300

Surely that wouldnt be ideal if there was ever a need for a new firmware to be added in the future as you would need to buy a new 9504 drive every time.

it's more likely they know how to write to the drive and just have not made the method public yet

still not updated:

Slim Lite-On  0225

IN TESTING v2.0

There is no problem with 0225 firmware. The problem is that the WRITE PROTECT on the drive is enabled and it is currently impossible to write the hacked fw to the drive. This is being heavily investigated by the team.

He said it was currently impossible to write to but that it is being heavily investigated by the team. They could come up with a way to write to it but it may mean buying extra hardware to solder on to enable writing. Or even something along the lines of the MRA method to read the firmware on the old liteon drives except for the purpose of writing to the 0225.

i thought testing meant that they have written the firmware to the drive but was justing testing for bugs, but i guess that is wrong if there are people saying that the 0225 drives are write protected. they must of found a way though if it is complete and in the testing stage?.........................sudeki300

any 9504 drive can be written as 0225, not just spoofed, but converted

so do people reckon this will be the only way, to buy a 9504 drive and flash the 0225 firmware to it then marry the drive back up with the console. i mean for the people with the 0225 consoles.......................sudeki300

I am not saying that is the only way, but for testing purposes that can easily be done.  Maybe they have found a backdoor to trigger write, until they tell us otherwise we really dont know.

it just a case of waiting then, just looking at the prices of the 9504 drive and there only £22 so that's not too bad. i don't mind spending that amount............................sudeki300

They're using 9504 drives to test the 0225 firmware (same drive, just with WP disabled)

and i would assume there will be an LT+ 2.0 for all drives that support XGD3.

First,let me start by saying:Yay!

0225 FW, awesome! M$ Obviously have a (non HW based) write solution for it, like most the other(slim) probably just needs a poke somewhere before it allows itself to be written - Heard a rumour there is a 'SPI' based HW hack also (Cannot confirm yet.. Like I said it still only qualifies as rumour for now).

I have faith in C4eva to deliver a solution that will be live safe,at least untill the XGD3 update, and more than likely after! He's a legend for getting LT 2.0 out there.. Heard (also un-confirmed, but less rumour) that using Esata ports are better for writing slims.. (Higher voltage ?? Or maybe just later SATA standard perhaps?? - Lot's of alternates out there fer the keen and/or poor slim owners..) Apparently I'm not allowed to publically speculate on some things anymore ...?...? (Don't ask - Flame at will if u must - Perhaps better to abstain if ur unfamiliar with my cryptacisim)

Who cares anyway, I just want to be able to play my backups in peace like everyone else ;-)

Sorry fer going off topic there but I had something I needed to say, Anywayz: Thanx again C4, and looking forward to the release!

fingers and toes crossed that a write procedure does present itself for the 0225 drives. here's hoping and praying......................sudeki300
