Softmod With > 137 Gig Support
« on: August 30, 2006, 09:27:00 PM »

OK I used Softmod Installer Deluxe v2.0 to mod my box bought a 300gig hd. now I am assuming I would need to flash the bios? so that I can use > 137 gig correct?

Already did the xboxhdm linux.iso thing to create the HD but it's only 137gig (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

1. Can anyone tell me How I do that flash the bois? in lamen's terms. is ther a (softmod only) tutorial
2. If you flash your xbox with a incorrect bios is it now a paperweight?
3. How do you tell if your 1.0 or 1.6 etc.

Thank you for your interest in my post. 1,00,000 points on gauntlet to who can answer my questions (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

no need to flash the bios on a softmod
format G:\ and the rest will be there (assuming a .67 PBL/NKPatcher)

Hey I have the exact same situation, have a 320 gig hd that is only being recognized at the base of 160 or whatever.  Did the softmod, no bios flashing.

So my question is, how exactly do I format the g drive? Do I have to take the drive back out of the xbox and run the linux live cd again?  Is there some tool somewhere within the evox dashboard or some other app that I can dl?

THanks muchly!!!!

^^ try that, I flashed with a .06 bios instead of a .67 the first time with a 250 gig(.06 is f takes the whole drive) and I got unleashx, enabled G, and formatted it and G had the rest of my drive.

SOFT MOD REQUIRES NO BIOS UPDATE TO HANDLE 250gigs. Confirmed. my me (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

So yes all I did was do the splinter cell hack again.
install unleash
reboot

[unleash loads]
settings / format g

presto

I prefer evolution so i did splinter cell hack again
install evox
reboot. ah
i see a g drive with the remaing gigs.

NO BIOS FLASH.

Thank you all.

I had the same problem today. I used AID to install unleashx, and formatted g, in seconds.
But it wont show up in Xbmc, and i got x,y,z all of 758mb or some such nonsense. Anyone had these probs?

your xyz drives are completely normal.. this is the way an xbox drive is partitioned.  you want your extra space to be formatted in a G partition

so with a regular 10 gb hard drive.. you have
C: with your system files;
D: your cdrom;
X:,Y:,Z: other partitions, yeah they seem strange but they're normal (dont use their space for your stuff);
E: is your standard free space partition (only up to around 10gb);

then if you have a big hard drive...
F: is for your free space up to 137GB
G: is for your free space after 137GB
both can formatted with the right softmod and utilities.. you dont need to flash your bios

i think thats correct.
someone correct me, if i'm mistaken

okay, perhaps u can help with this.
I formatted G, and now it doesnt show up, anywhere. Not in xbmc, evox, unleashx. or qwix.
The only place it does show up is in the AID disc.
I started a topic on this, and a guy told me that its a bios issue.
Do u know whats up with this ?

I just went into unleashX and ticked "enable g" and i seems to be showing up now, in unleash. But in xbmc, it only shows up in the system>harddisk menu, saying the total capacity of the drive is 305gb. But in File Explorer it doesnt allocate a size of the partition.
