you mean the sounds on your ms dash? Well if you make sure you have an audio folder on your virtual C then the sounds should work as well. The purpose of the bin is well like you said it exposes the (hidden) C partition in where you normally should have not to change anything.
And no you cannot change it without recompiling. And I have no Idea if the black screen does not come up ever again. I have not experienced it myself.

how exactly would i go about doing this? i really dont care what time my xbox thinks it is. lol. especially if it gives me the goddamn black screen.
