To check if the compatibility files are on your hard drive (by the way, it has to be an actual hard drive, not a usb) just try and run a game. If it gives you an error then obviously you need to put the files on.

It's as simple as transferring them over to your hdd. The files will be a folder named "Compatibility" and you just transfer it to partition 2 of your hard drive.
