Xbc Or Xlink Kai?
« on: April 12, 2007, 10:13:00 AM »

Ave,

I would have thought this would be a sticky.
I was hoping to get into some Online Gaming on my XBOX360. I already have the network in place, just need to choose. I don't know which one is more popular, as in, has more games & players.

So, can someone make a suggestion whether I should go for:
XLink Kai
or
XBC

Thanks!

Deffinately XBC, only sends one byte of overhead for every packet sent. I'm not sure how much more advanced XLinkKai is by now, haven't used it in a while, but XBC is by far better, much fancier too, more user friendly... lots more 'hype' about it. The only thing good about XLink Kai I've seen is that you can integrate it into XBMC, which is actually pretty cool and nifty, you do need the computer, but you choose the games on the xbox, only the original though, yet to find a cure for that hyporvisor in the 360 above 4552.  sad.gif

A large group of us "banned" ex-XBL'erz tried to SYS Link on Xlin Kai w/ GOW.

Seems that you can view the Host Machine/Game but we were all unable to succesfully connect.

Something about ping needing to be less than 30.

I think it might have something to do with the way that Xlink Tunnels 360's.

Can anyone answer if they have succesfully LAN/LINK on XB Connect ?

You can't play any of the newer games on XBC or Xlink. The ping limiter built into the game won't work when you trick LAN into playing over the WAN.

then dont use networking for games
spoof the ip the xbox is trying to connect to
xbox gizmo ip spoof and then lan plugs into that

just read this in a previous post.. dont know if it works...

Isn't the principle the same as XBL? How come I can play gears with people in Germany with no problem on LIVE, but through KAI that same person would have too high a ping? Since XBL has users host their own games, it should be achievable, I would think.

EDIT: Ok, after doing some reading, I'm wondering about the 'ping limiter' I keep hearing. Couldn't it be possible to send the ping time for YOUR local network, since XBC/KAI ultimately link the network? They could could possibly keep the ping query within the localhost (of course, this would mean people with horrible connections wouldn't know until the game had started...not like we didn't see plenty of that in LIVE tho).

I have been able to connect on XLink but have found a partner with a ping of 30ms or less.  You would have to find a way to either eliminate the ping limiter or find players with the required ping rate.

Try XLan to get play an online/systemlink games
XLan Setup Guide

Game Connection Tip:
On any system link game they have a limiter of about 20ms.
So you either need a super fast connection or use a slimmer version of M$ network.
That is why i setup the XLan, it is based on Linux so it uses your bandwith about 200% better then any M$ OS it also is self booting so it wont damage you current system. i have had GOW working fine with 4 players and no lagg(but we all are in the same county)

A Tip to never be detected online again:
Manualy change the Default Gateway of the xbox 360.
this will stop any internet activity from the xbox but it will allow you to use streaming media and other tools
it is quite easy to do.
Goto your network setup.
Assign a manual IP Address and set you Default Gateway to your PC`s IP Address.
Press test setting and test Xbox Live.
it will sign you out, once the tests have started quickly cancel them.
Then go back then back again.
Now look at your Network setting they have saved ok.
Now you will not be at risk of ever going onto Live at all.

This thread is 2 years old, before your post yesterday , the last post was in 2007.
I think NEW interest will be generated in playing 360 on these services NOW.
