Can I Swap Out My Hitachi 0079fl For Something Flashable?

Like an idiot, I returned my 360 to MS thinking that they'd either fix my 3 red-light issue or return my 360 to me because I had tampered with the seal.  They did neither.  They did the worst thing possible.  They sent me a remanufactured 360 with a Hitachi drive version 0079FL.  

I've read there is some mod chip to allow me to flash the firmware, but I'm not too good with this soldering.  I was wondering if there is an issue method to extract the DVD key from this Hitachi and flash that onto another DVD drive that I can buy elsewhere?

Is extracting the Hitachi 0079FL key a viable option?  I'd rather buy a new drive than flash this Hitachi with all of that modding.
