Do I need to flash my Xbox360 each time I want to play a backupped game?

No, just once.

Would I be able to play any backup game by popping it into my Xbox360 drive after the initial firmware flash or is there some steps I have to follow for each individual backup?

Bump! This is the last question I need answered about modding the Xbox360 (at least in newbie chat tongue.gif)!

After you have MADE the backup, no... just pop it in and play it.
But... it takes more work than just pressing a button to make a backup.

Ok guys I went ahead and did the mod. I can play my back up games now, but I seem to have a small problem. The Xbox360 wont recognize my backups when I insert them after a fresh boot. Everytime I want to get a backup to play I have to put in a retail game first, revert back to the dash, and then finally insert the game backup.

What did I do wrong? How do I fix it?

Firmware Hack : Toshiba-Samsung 360 Auto Flasher v2.0
PC Motherboard: ASUS P4SD-LA with Intel 848P chipset
Flash Used: General option
----->Executed "firmware.bat" first then "b.bat".

Thanks,

have you tried hitting the hdtv switch on the back of your xbox (on the video cable) switching it back from your version to the other, then back to the old version?  pop.gif

Nobody has encountered this problem before?

If I can't get help here, where/who else should I ask? Or am I basically screwed?

Sounds like the media or burner you are using.  If it boots a backup even once... you flash went okay.

Are you settiing the booktype to DVD-Rom?  Are you using quality media (i.e. Verbatims)?  Are you using the latest firmware on your burner...

Actually nevermind. My booktype was set to "DVD-ROM" - I just popped in one of my backups and checked it with Nero CD-DVD Speed.

My DVD Burner is a HP 640B if that helps pinpoint my problem.

The only other thing I can think of is burn the games slower (2-2.4X speed)...  and to make sure the HP 640B firmware is up to date.  (It is an LG drive, I think the newest firmware is E283) A lot of people seem to have problems with the drive and its lack of support.

I think if you tried a different burner your problems would go away...

As I said if it boots once the firmware is good... and you stated originals play fine.. looks like you have a weaker laser than most...

You can try adjusting the pot of the laser on the Xbox .. just be careful or you will burn it out.  Make sure you have a backup of your original firmware in case you need another drive.

Pioneer works best for hitachi... Im sure it will work well for samsung.

BENQ is also good....

I personally bought a Samsung burner and have had no problems with my xbox samsung drive...

It may just be your particular DVD drive... all DVD Roms are optimized to play specific media... yours plays originals fine but burned discs have a different reflectivity....
