@asspants, the "OEM" drives are horrible a lot of the time (a la newegg). If you buy a retail LiteOn, they are amazing drives. The OEM drives are also usually LOUD. We'll see what happens I guess, it could go either way...

I've had plenty of Lite On CD-R drives and they have done well.  Their early DVD-/+R drives blew, poor write quality, haven't kept up on their later models as my NEC 8x is fine for the little writing I do.

I don't really expect anything great or different coming from this.

True, too bad all the good brands support Blu-ray and/or are Japanese. That would be like sleeping with the enemy.

I have 2 LiteOn drives in my comp...I love 'em.

Sounds pretty sweet if you ask me.
