I just got back from tea and biscuits with Jeremy Hinton, from Xbox Australia (yes, the tea was lovely). The topic of discussion? The local release of the 360 HD-DVD player.

- The HD-DVD add-on launches on March 29
- It'll be AUD$249
- The first shipment will come bundled with...King Kong. It's cool. You don't have to watch it.

Actually, we're getting it cheaper than the seppoes for once  - 7 dollars cheaper at todays exchange rate.

We are, however, getting rorted for other accessories - 92 USD for games and 132 USD for the HDD. The yanks are paying 60 and 100 respectively.

Are you serious, 92 usd for games? If that were the price here, then the game industry would die out pretty quickly.

That's the price the UK pays for not embracing the euro. I do feel sorry for you, old champ. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif)

The overseas HD DVD players already play on the Australian version, i've imported one and it'll run off both 110v and 240v and the region is what is set in the xbox (though there isn't any regions yet) Just needed to get another cord with the right plug on the end (already had heaps lying around) just need the shops over here to start selling the movies so i can watch something other than king kong  (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sleep.gif)

I've been waiting for this for quite a while, once i realised that standard DVDs look shite on my 40" lcd. I've got an $80 target voucher from christmas to help pay for the drive (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif) Though i dunno how i'll go with movies. I think i own 2 DVDs, i copy em all, im gonna have to start buying them, though i have a job now so i guess its cool.

Also, i just remembered, as some1 said, im kinda pissed off that it will use yet another one of my precious power points, im running low under here! Got my alarm clock, computer, sound system, 360, tv, phone charger, wireless headset charger, wireless mouse receiver/charger. GRR!
