Looking at Anandtech's article about the xbox360's mobo, it doesn't have a good picture of the bottom of the mobo.  I don't think it will be as easy to make a modchip for a xbox360 as the original xbox like having a lpc port.  It will probably take a 15+ wires like a ps2 or something like that.  

There's a 16MB flash rom chip on the motherboard itself here:

I wouldn't be surprised that someone figures out that this might be the bios or something that you can exploit.

Yes, it may be easy to put a replacement chip in, that you can load a BIOS onto, but you have to dump and decrypt the original one before you can hack it to do what you want.  That's what takes the time.

It should be relatively simple to install a piggy back chip to override the original one (you've just got to tap into the correct traces), but you need something to put on it in the first place.
