Lcd Monitor 15"
« on: May 21, 2006, 03:47:00 AM »

I have a Samsung 15" 540N LCD Monitor with native resolution 1024x768. I am quite satisfied with it as a computer displey. But due to the lack of money i will have to use it as a diplay for 360 soon. So i wanted to now about the output resolution of three sixty.
I have learned out here, that 360 SUPPORTS 1024x768 resolution. BUT. Games run in 720p or 1080i wide. How will they fit to 1024x768? Will i see blur, or black stripes in sides using 4:3 displey? Or how will it look like?

you have a few options..

in the dashboard you can set the VGA resolution to 1024x768...

Depending on the game you'll either get 720p downscaled to about 1024x580 with black bars top and bottom (best quality) or you'll get 480p upscaled to 1024x768 (not HD but will fill the screen). Which one it chooses it completely up to the game itself. The monitor might look slightly better then an SDTV but in my opinion if you have a decent non-HDTV you'd be better off using that.

With that said I was at walmart last night and they had a widescreen 19" monitor that supported 1280x800 for $245

There is no Wallmart department in Russia... sad.gif
So it's better not to use such kind of a monitor?
