hm, got another question: is the original ms component cable worth its buy? i have only got a 3rd party xcm cable.
Maybe I should even hook it up over VGA? smile.gif

it doubt its your 360, its probably your TV, get a new one if you want 1080p.

Also did you go to the system settings for display?

You can change the resolution there...

It wont auto boot 720p or 1080i or p.  you have to set it with the xbox 360

unless you have a 1080p tv its not worth going out of your way to get 1080p ability.  From what I understand all xbox games are 720p native.  So all your doing it upscaling to 1080p, which I can only imagine looks better on a 1080p tv because a 1080ps native resolution is 1900x1200 or something like that.  Just like on an lcd computer monitor, unless you run the 1 native resolution, it looks like crap.  A 1080p TV would operate the same way.  Now thats as far as LCD goes, you might have a plasma or something.  

HDMI is far superior than VGA or component.  So go in the dash menu and see if you can set it on 720p.

if all the resolutions are greyed out, select optimal resolution. it will set it to your TV's native resolution.
