Random Snap/crackle/pop With Hdmi 360
« on: February 04, 2008, 02:24:00 PM »

I have a 360 that has come in with a random audio problem.

A random yet distinct snap/crackle/pop comes thru the audio.  Doesn't matter if it is in a game or at the Dashboard.

I have tried different cables (RCA and Component) and different TVs.  Still the same problem.

Any ideas??

Thanx

Something on this just occurred to me...

Is there any reason to believe that a connection thru the HDMI connector would NOT have the same scratchy audio that the standard A/V connector produces???

Check The Pins On Both Input on Xbox And Tv And Also Check Cable pins sometimes if they touch can cause this

HDMI is digital, Standard A/V is analog.

Not true. The AV port also produces optical audio, which is digital. B, did your try an optical cable?

No, I don't have one handy...

I do have an HDMI <-> DVI-I Connector coming that will allow me to check the audio under HDMI...

Well, I got my HDMI <-> DVI-I convertor plug today..

It DID seem to get rid of the snap/crackle/pop...  But apparently that is only because there is NO Audio at all..   grr.gif  IPB Image

From reading thru some of the other posts, it seems that DVI-I doesn't carry the audio signal...

What are my options for getting audio out of the 360 with HDMI??

Thanx

Update on this..

I finally got ahold of an OPTICAL Audio Cable..

Set it up with the HDMI unit and booted into the Dashboard.  No distinct crackles or pops.  Some very very faint, but I attributed that to just background noise...

Booted up a game and... WOW..

The most horrendous, loud and PIERCING screech came out of the speakers..  Scared the crap outta me...

But the weird thing is, when I put in a movie, it plays fine.  No audio issues at all...

Anyone have any ideas???

Thanx
