Why The "jaggies" On My Lcd?
« on: December 23, 2005, 01:32:00 AM »

The best setting is what your TV natively handles.  So if ur TV is natively 1080i, then set the 'box to 1080i.

Normally I agree, but some members here have posted that when they set their 360 to 720 (on their 1080i TV) that it actually looks better, like the conversion looks better when done by the TV as compared to when done by the 360.
Not my experience, but those of others.

yeah no matter what.. on a LCD you gonna get jaggy... the damn thing is too sharp, atleast 12 or 16X AA is needed  ph34r.gif

turn down the brightness and sharpness setting on your screen will help a bit.

This is true.  But seeing as how this is an LCD (which I'm not fond of), I doubt that's the case, lol.

I have a Samsung 712n with a native resolution of 1280x1024 and am using a VD-Z3 converter to use my 360 on my LCD.

What is the best settings for the Xbox output, 720p?

I have some "jaggies" around the edges of images and wonder if I am doing something wrong...

With LCD's it is more important to use it's native res then CRT's (LCD's have fixed pixels).  That being said, you would do well to get a 360 vga cable which will allow you to use 1280 x 1024 res; you're LCD's native res.  The VD-Z3 is an excellent transcoder, but not need for the 360, unlike the xbox, because the 360 excepts native vga.  Plus the VD-Z3 only allows 480p, 720p and 1080i res, while the 360 vga cable offers 6 different res, particularily your LCD's res.
