Are you sure you're not plugging your s-video adapter into a video out port on the back of the card?

Even if you do get it to work, it will look like linedoubled poop.

that is an output....

the best way is to bypass the  computer completely and by the $40 vga cable to hook directly to your moniter...

An extra adapter is needed, unfortunately.

If you're PC has an S-Video input then it's for a capture card, and unless you want to record the output of your Xbox it's useless.

Buy the VGA cable. it comes with hookups to connect the sound to your PC speakers...

There should never be a need to have your PC between your Xbox and your monitor.

If you hook the xbox directly to the monitor where does the sound come from?

For me I would hook up my sound to my stereo with an AUX input (red and white analog). I believe there is a big split between the vga cord and the sounds cords. Enough to be able to have them in somewhat seperate places. I hope that descripition made sense.
