i set 2 boxes up for a freind on the same router (bt homehub 1.5), both wired then tried 1 wired and 1 wireless.
this also used to work with my nasty orange broadband isp supplier router.

setting static ip's on both xbox worked perfectly first time for me. just stay well away from ip ranges that any other devices tend to use.

it was a while ago and i dont remember much more than that
