From pc to 360, with router works fine, but I want a direct connection without a router using my crossover cable. What do I need to change? In 360, I get -failed- on ip address tab when doing a network test.

Connecting straight to modem? You need a patch cable, not crossover.

No router, no modem. Direct crossover ethernet cable PC to 360 for mp3s and videos. How do I configure?

You need to manually configure your 360 to have an IP address and Subnet mask that are in the same network as your computer's IP address and Subnet mask.

Use the Same subnet mask for both and set the 360 to use an IP address close to your PC's. For example, if your PC has the ip of 192.168.0.3 then set your 360 to use 192.168.0.4
