Wireless Controller Signal Details

from what i remember reading MS made this tech specifically for the 360 and it uses 2.4ghz, not wireless usb either.

So there is no known device that might be able to receive these signals?  I figured maybe there would be some generic 2.4Ghz receiver that could at least detect the signals.  Then some software could be written to interpret the signals into controller button data.
