when i try to run any cps-2 game on mame-x, i get an error message that says that i dont have the proper files. anyone know what to d/l? <

you need a neogeo bios. Its named neogeo.zip

Use kawa-x or FBAx for CPS games.

Do you have the Xors for the games added to the zips? they're files that allow the game to be decrypted (or they're decrypted replacements for encrypted bits, not sure how they worked exactly) but for CPS2 games they are needed, you used to be able to get them from cps2shock but they stopped havin em, you can find them in arcade emu newsgroups or VGN has some. You may also want to cheack to see if you have clones of a game but not the parent set, the parent set will be bigger, as the parent set is needed. <
