Z26 Atari 2600 Emulator port for XBox v1

http://xport.xb-power.com

Put roms wherever you like
Default directory is A26ROMS

What's New :

- Fully Emulates Atari 2600
- Extra sound channel in games like Pitfall
- Plays music in Pitfall 2
- Plays Supercharger games
- Paddle sensitivity
- Adjust screen size/position during gameplay

The main reason I ported this was to play Supercharger games, which Stella
does not do.  Z26 is also much more compatible than Stella.

In-Game Keys :

Y           - Options Menu (from options menu, press START+BACK to exit game)
A           - Joystick Fire Button
DPAD        - Joystick movement
LTHUMB      - Paddle movement
START       - Reset
BACK        - Select
X           - Booster Grip Booster
B           - Booster Grip Trigger
L/R Trigger - P1/2 Difficulty Switches
WHITE/BLACK - Paddle Sensitivity
LTHUMB      - Press to adjust size/position of screen

There was no reliable way to measure the exact game-screen size so it was
not possible to automatically stretch the image to fill the entire screen.
To correct this, you can press the LTHUMB button while playing a game
and then use the LTHUMB and RTHUMB sticks to change the screen size/position.
Press LTHUMB again when you're done.

Stella, Gnuboy, SMSPlus, FCEUltra, HUGO, NeoPop, DGen, Bochs, HUGO-CD, FMSXBox,
Bliss, WinSTon, Gens, Z26....what's next?

Enjoy!

Excellent news, I was kind of hoping for a Z26 port rather than the less compatible, Stella.

And being a fan of the PC Z26, I'm hoping this is just as good.

Did you base this off of the newer Windows 2.06 Z26 source ?

Sorry to be right off topic here, but any chance you could look at your MSX port ?
Although it's a great port, I found various buttons wouldn't work, save states didn't work, and I couldn't get back to the main rom menu.

Damn, hehe the way XPort is going hes gonna emulate every console that hasnt been emulated on Xbox besides, (Saturn, Dreamcast, N64, PSX, Ps2, and GameCube), hehe he may emulate 1 or 2 of those but from the looks of it, XPort is a Old School Gamer. :-)

Awsome Release though...

Phew I was worried there - thought X-Port was slacking with a whole weekend without a new release  :D

Great one, but has menu and sound problems on a PAL machine, both in 50Hz and 60Hz mode.

The problem in the menu first showed up in Gens_xport v3, the resolution seems to be too high so the screen flickers (interlaced?) On the right border and the bottom on the screen, the screen isn't black, but has what seems to be "memory dumps"

When I put the machine in NTSC mode everything runs fine, but then it only works with an RGB cable on a PAL TV. So to me it's not a big problem, but not everyone has an RGB cable for the XBox.

As usual you just continue to amaze this old school game. I guess i could compliment you for porti ng this, but whats left to say that hasn]t already been said? :)

also, ill assume you are aware there is some cracking in the sound, that stella doesn't seem to do (intro in pacman for instance).

Also, is there a way to flip-flop the joystick port onm the 2600? Some gAMES (such as Homerun) for instance dont use the default game port.

kthx

Couldn't agree more.
But will add some

C64 Loving - one WITH keyboard support.  WinVice, perhaps ?
Atari 800 Loving - Along the lines of Atari800Win Plus v3, it's open source.
BBC B Loving - Although (apart from MESS) there ain't many decent PC ones
Acorn Electron - Is ElectrEm Open Source ?
Commodore 16/Plus 4 - Is WinEmu's source available ?
A possible port of MESS, with keyboard support. Infact, it would need it.

What decent PC speccy emulators have the source available ?
Spectaculor is superb, but not sure about open source.
Klive, by Steve Snake, is possible THE best speccy emulator I've every used. But I doubt he'll release his source. Although I know him and could ask him.

Vice would be nice for C64, and MESS would be awesome for Atari 5200/7800 and my first computer tI 99/4a :)

What I like about Winvice (over other C64 Emus) is it's ability to browse multi game disk images, like the Blast Comps images. Certainly makes it easier to browse 340 disk images without a text listing to hand.

And a MESS port would also provide Apple2e, Astrocade, Atom, BBC, Colour Genie, Tany Coco, Dragon32, Oric Atmos, Vectrex, Vic20 emulation, among many others.
Although, on the PC, it was a bitch to setup. Though the newer front-end did help a lot.

re: PAL issues - I'll put the old code back

re: sound crackling - that only happens at the very beginning of a game (if at all).  After the first couple of seconds, everything is fine from then on.

re: MSX - I've not experienced any of those problems.  I'd need more details on exactly what you're doing.

And yes, it's based off the most recent Z26 sources.

Ok, I've totally wiped the fmsx directory and started again.
Somehow, save states now load and save. Great stuff.
But I still can't get back to the main rom menu

If I press START + BACK, all I get is a message at the top saying

"Disk A: D:msxromsdrivea.dsk"

I'm going by what the config menu says, so if they are the wrong keys to exit then I'm sorry for not reading the help properly  ;)
Also, when ingame, if you press Y it says that the LTHUMB is for the configuration. Yet it doesn't do anything. Is this right ? or is this when you are on the menu screen only.
Thanks for the time, anyway.
