HU-GO! PCE Emulator port for XBox v7

http://xport.xb-power.com

Put roms wherever you like
Default directory is PCEROMS

What's New :

- Supports real PCE CDs/SCDs (!) (originals or CDRWs)

*DOES NOT WORK WITH CDRs*
*DOES NOT WORK WITH CDRs*
*DOES NOT WORK WITH CDRs*

The reason why it does not work with CDRs is because the XBox DVDROM drive simply
does not recognize CDR media.  It has a hard enough time reading CDRW.  There's
nothing that can be done about this except to replace the DVDROM drive in your
XBox with a more regular PC-variety.

You can use *original* PCE CDs/SCDs, CDRW copies, or (if these even exist)
HK silvers of PCE cds.  If the CD was pressed in a factory, it will probably
work in HUGO.

To use a real CD, start HUGO with the CD inserted into the drive (or start
HUGO with the CD tray open.)  At HUGO's main menu, press the RANALOG button
to bring up the CD menu.  From this menu you can do the following things:

- Start the inserted CD with System Card version 3
- Start the inserted CD with System Card version 1
- Eject the CD tray
- Close the CD tray

If you select "Eject" and HUGO was not booted from a DVD/CDRW, then your xbox
will reset.

If you started HUGO with the CD tray open, then put the CD into the tray now and
select "Close the CD tray".  Wait for the green light on your xbox to stop
flashing before continuing.

Once the green light on your XBox has stopped flashing, select the appropriate
method of booting (either with system card 3 or 1)

Voila!

Stella, Gnuboy, SMSPlus, FCEUltra, HUGO, NeoPop, DGen, Bochs, HUGO-CD, FMSXBox,
Bliss, WinSTon, Gens....what's next?

xport you are the man !!!

you finally did it, dvd-rom support. i knew you would figure it out. i have the samsung dvd drive in my unit, and it read's cd-rs right off the bat. i played draucula-x original and back-up and they work fine. i can play gate of thunder and lords of thunder. great job man, you answered my prayers. i you going to be working on arcasde card emulation as well. sapphire won't play without it. when i try to play it, it gets to the now loading screen and freezes. also great job on the reprogramming of gens-x, any hope of *real* dvd-rom support for this as well ? thanks for all your work, keep it up.

I'm having trouble with Hugo reading an original copy of Dracula X. After the Konami logo, all there is, is a black screen. Can't reset or anything. Any ideas?

That's not it. I'm a collector so all my discs are dust and scratch free. I even just checked again to be sure.

I just tried DracX on a CDRW and it played perfectly for me.  Perhaps it has something to do with the dashboard you're using or the IGR feature or something else along those lines.  Have you tried any other PCE CD games?

PCE is Pc Engine, or the Japanese version of the Turbo Grafx 16 game console.  It was a great little system that was around during the beggining of the SNES period.  It has some incredible games such as the much sought after Dracula X which some argue is the best Castlevania game of the older systems.  It was the first home console system (I believe) to have a CDROM addon which gave it true CD audio music and in game voice as well as stereo output and the original CDROM unit was dockable so you could remove it and use it as a disc man, although the AC adapter that it ran on weighed as much as the full system.  :)

Xport, I don't know what to say about this one.  I'd started a thread a week or two ago asking if this was possible because you don't see it on a lot on Xbox console emulators and now here it is.  I don't think I can remember anyone else releasing so many emulators/updates with the quality that you consistantly achieve in yours.

Oh I see...but yeah... I remeber the Turbo Grafx... I had one  :D  Then I lost a part to it and could never get it to play againg cuz I couldnt get a replacement.  The game I remeber playing the most on it was called Carnov or Karnov or something like that.....it was about a big Ball headed dude that blew fire.  Then they had another big headed dude with a game... I forgot the name though....I'll cop this emulator and give it a run.
