You know, there's been a lot of talk about conspiracy theories here on the demise of HD DVD

I say, keep it as a showcase centerpiece. Your friends will think you are so clever and will be sure to spark up conversation....

And what you are going to use it for, if no studio is releasing movies on this format?

M$ and To$hiba can support it as much as they wont, but the fact is, HD-DVD is dead.

it was clear before the war even started that blu-ray would prevail in the end... if you didn't see it coming, i'm sorry.

Toshiba has only did half of what needs to be done to get back in the game.

Work it out with MS to make the Xbox add-on $75 with 5 free movies.

Subsidise the cost of any studio whom wants to put out a dvd to make it a hybrid DVD
They should work to eliminated DVD and stop trying to compete with Bluray.

If every new release on DVD was hybrid all the people on the side line would become HD-DVD owners.
Same as PS3 owners are BluRay ownders.

The fact is, its simple, but Toshiba has to go all out.

I don't see how a studio which is responsible to it's shareholders could say no to Toshiba offering to increase their potential sales at no additional cost.

Because the whole concept is Toshiba do actually need to make money. They can not go down a route of pouring money in projects just to make a point of principle. They have a far broader technology base to satisfy than just HD-DVD.
At the end of the day whoever comes out on top will find that their one time opposition start manufacturing the Hi Def player they were once against.
