Hi,

A question about the real resolution while playback 1080p WMV HD on xbox 360 connected to MCE 2005.

I understand that 1080p is not supported on XBOX 360. So 1080i is the maximum screen resolution at this moment.

When select 1080i as the screen resolution, I heard that all games using 720p as internal screen resolution and upscale to 1080i. In case of 1080p WMV HD playback, is that statement still valid, or internally, xbox 360 use a framebuffer of 1920 x 1080, and output to 1080i screen resolution?

Thanks.

You're right, 1080p isn't supported.

Generally 720p is the best resolution for games as it offers better temporal resolution than the 1080i ie. 60 frames per second.

1080i should be better for HD movies as the source is only 30 frames per second ie. using 60 frames isn't gonna be an improvement.
