it should the xbox reads dvd+-rw and cdr.

I don't think you can "rip" your mp3s to the HD. You can only play them from the DVD drive, which means that you won't be able to listen to them when you're playing a game as the games DVD will be in there.

The only way to put your music on the 360's HD is to put in an audio CD, and then rip to the HD (it's converts them to WMA). There's no way (ATM) to copy mp3's / WMA's to the HD.
