QUOTE
In the latest instance of decrying the purported "war" on Christmas, Fox News host Bill O'Reilly claimed that "it's all part of the secular progressive agenda ... to get Christianity and spirituality and Judaism out of the public square." He then added: "ecause if you look at what happened in Western Europe and Canada, if you can get religion out, then you can pass secular progressive programs, like legalization of narcotics, euthanasia, abortion at will, gay marriage, because the objection to those things is religious-based, usually." O'Reilly's comments came during a November 18 discussion on his television show, The O'Reilly Factor, with guest and fellow Fox News host John Gibson about "which American stores are using 'Christmas' in advertising this Christmas season and which are not." Gibson is the author of The War on Christmas: How the Liberal Plot to Ban the Sacred Christian Holiday Is Worse Than You Thought (Sentinel, October 2005).

The Quote Source from Media Matters

Bill Oreilly is right.

Funny how the retail industry so desperately needs our "Christmas" money and yet many stores/corporations refuse to make any reference to Christmas or even Hanukkah.

our newspaper just had an article about how we ought not say "merry christmas" anymore.  Instead it was "have a happy holiday" or some other nonesense which could refer either to christmas or the new years celebration.  After all we dont want to risk offending anyone.  What a bunch of BS.  Even before i was christian i had no problems hearing "mery christmas" or whatever else.  And if i were to say "have a happy holiday", wouldnt i run the same risk of offending people who are working through it and not taking a holiday?

So when the libs do finally get rid of christmas, are they still going to want those days off? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

Not really..happy holiday refers to the New Year...and to Winter Solstice.

Does it really matter?  Christmas, Channukah, Kwanza, and just about any other holiday around this time are simply exploiting the long standing tradition of celebrating winter solstice

There is no way that Jesus was born in late December...at least according to the bible.  Channukah was never a big holiday...and is only celebrated to defend against pagan and christian holidays.  Kwanzaa....i hate when people try to start traditions on purpose.

So what do you care...im sure that all of you Christians give gifts on December 25th and you dont even know why....(and if you do know why...then explain to me why you give them on the 25th and not the 6th?)

Any yeah...damn liberals...they want the world evaluated fairly and equally...what a crock of sh*t.

Secular programs?...so is O'Reilly claiming that the current status on all of those issues is purely religious?

too many people forget freedom of speech and religion goes both ways, everyone is free to practice their own religion, even if its not the same as yours

i never understood how peopel can get offended by words, or a display in someones yard, i mean something like that can only be as offensive as you allow yourself to be offended by it

"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
-Voltaire

"For to express oneself with doing a thing is the very essence of freedom"
-Zoidberg

Everyone needs to stop being so uptight and easily offended.  It really pisses me off.  What really pisses me off is the same atheist you see get screaming mad at the sound of the word's "God" or "Religion" or what have you, they celebrate religious holidays.

The easiest solution is outlaw hypocricy.  Then maybe all these fools will get in line.

This was posted on another forum and I would like to share it with you kind, gentle, weird people...

 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/tongue.gif)

"United Kingdom - The Right to Leave Our Country - YOU Have the right -
the right to leave !

After many cities not wanting to offend other cultures by putting up
Xmas lights.

After hearing that the Birmingham council changed its opinion and let a
Muslim woman have her picture on her driver's license with her face
covered.

This prompted this editorial written by a UK citizen. Published in a
British tabloid newspaper.

IMMIGRANTS, NOT BRITAIN'S, MUST ADAPT.

Take It Or Leave It I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we
are offending some individual or their culture.

Since the terrorist attacks on London, we have experienced a surge in
patriotism by the majority of Brits.

However, the dust from the attacks has barely settled and the
"politically correct" crowd begin complaining about the possibility that
our patriotism is offending others.

I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who
is seeking a better life by coming to Britain.

However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our
country, and apparently some born here, need to understand.

This idea of London being a multicultural community has served only to
dilute our sovereignty and our national identity. As Britons, we have
our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own
lifestyle.

This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials and
victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.

We speak ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese,
Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of
Our society, Learn the language!

"In God We Trust" is our National Motto. This is not some Christian,
right wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian
men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is
clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the
walls of our schools.

If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the
world as your new home, Because God is part of our culture.

If St George's cross offends you, then you should seriously consider a
move to another part of this planet.

We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we
really don't care how you did things where you came from.

This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you
every opportunity to enjoy all this.

But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag,
Our Pledge, Our National Motto, or Our Way of Life, I highly
encourage you take advantage of one other great British freedom,
"THE RIGHT TO LEAVE".

If you aren't happy here then go!! We didn't force you to come here.

You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted. Pretty easy
really, when you think about it."

Kinda sums up my feelings on the matter.

Hmmm...i still argue that the USA is not based on Christian fundamentals...otherwise we wouldnt use the death penalty...

Businesses are avoiding Christmas references? Why?  oh...thats right...to make more money...that is their job

Governments are avoiding religious references because it is in their best interest...plus, in the US you have a clause about "national religion"....they still have christmas at the white house....they are just more careful to avoid mentioning it.

You can still say or do what ever you want religiously...it is your right

The fact that it may offend someone shouldn't matter...It really shouldn't...I offend people on a daily basis....and i dont even talk about religion

Well there is a problem...Atheism is absence
Christianity can still exist in the presence of atheism but Atheism has a hard time in the presence of Theism..

i.e.

I think that all people are inherently good people....This could be Atheistic or Theistic
I think that God made all people good....................This cannot be Atheistic.

I'm workign the xmas shift this year so I say they outlaw the day for everyone so i won't be the only one working.

Lets bring back the winter solstice and sacrifice some small woodland creatures to some unknown forest spirit so that winter may be less harsh than it has in previous years!!!!!

Too bad
I already burned a pair of skies in sacrifice to the true god of winter, Ullr, to ensure a good, long skiing season.

The Bible says "An eye for an eye".  Public executions were pretty common.  (In the wild west at least.  Hangings and all that.)  Now it's up to the states to decide.
Buildings in D.C. have biblical carvings in them.

One of the problems the masses have is that they interpret the bible to their daily life, making anything they do "righteous"
