Ok i live in georgia, and today i noticed that the gas stations were packed, there were seriously more than 30 cars in line to get gas at every gas station I saw, gas stations even closed early because of all these people, what is going on? and is this happening anywhere else?

well its because of the hurricane that gas prices are gonna go up, so everyone is rushing to the gas stations before they do.

honestly, gas prices are the least of this country's worries because of katrina. and so it does make it sound bad, complaining about gas prices when all these people have literally nothing.

yeah, NO was a BIG BIG port for oil from the gulf.  recently the gov decided to temporarily allow oil to be more polluting in order for lower gas prices.

So I would say that its not only in your area.  The local news in dayton reported dry gas stations and long lines in the city.  Here, in a suburb, the stations are busy, but there are not lines.
CNN reported not too long ago that gas in atlanta was at $5/gallon.

NO is the main supplier for oil for GA and FL. Here in GA, gas prices at a local QT went from $2.59 at noon, to $2.87 at 2:15. My brother said some stations were selling it for 6 bucks a gallon in Duluth, with lines backed down the street.
Think this is gonna give me a reason to finally buy that bike I've been putting off buying.
And also, investing in a locking gas cap may not be a bad idea. ;)

Hey man, I'm in Athens, Ga.  The closest gas station to me (pretty popular) went from $2.62 yesterday, to 2.96 around lunch time, $2.99 by about 3:00, and I heard was up to $4 by tonight.  Thankfully I'm still riding on my 3/4 of a tank lasting me about a week and a half... hopefully gas'll be back to normal by then?

The Governer of GA froze gas prices, announcing that there isn't a shortage, or risk of a shortage, and will not allow gas prices to rise unless the price of gas from the suppliers rise. I can't see these prices lasting past next monday, before they drop back to "normal" ($2.50). BTW, I'm in Buford, about 25 minutes west on 316. Gas yesterday was $2.69 at a Shell when I put a 1/4 tank in my car.

You guys are so lucky, us brits have been paying 96p a litre, in a remote part of Cornwall(port Isaac) they are paying £1.00+ a litre!

I think it's about time governments started pushing Bio Diesel, apparently Diesel engines only need minor adjustments to burn the new fuel.

Gas prices in the Flint Michigan area yesterday was $3.39 a gallon for regular. I think it's a bunch of BS. There is no shortage of gas. They are gouging us. They also raise the price of lumber each time Florida has a hurricane.

EDIT:

I agree, us Americans bitch and moan to much, you guys are paying way more than we are (I can never remember the exact number). Anyways, ride a bike (motorcycle), thats the best gas saver I've found, get fresh air to!
