Lets Defeat Websense
« on: January 13, 2005, 05:32:00 PM »

Ok, my school has tons of websites that are blocked by a firewall called "websense" i need to find a way to "trick it" because there is no way to disable it that i have heard of or no of. There is a way i know of on how to get past it and that is by using a "website translator" although alot of them show up very different from the normal website (no pic,s. background, etc.)  so if anyone knows of a good website translator to do this or anything period on how to get past websense, POST IT!

So I assume you tried babelfish?  The translator way is the easiest.  But if you want try https://www.proxyweb.net or use an HTTP tunneling program. <

Proxies are unbelivably slow though, your best bet would be to just go on those sites at home <

^= thats not an entirely true statement. I have found Proxies that are just as fast as normal. Just look for ones in this country with low pings. <

try using different ports, Ususally ports like 1080,8000,8001 are blocked by default. i have used 3128 has worked for me in the past you could try those.  You could also try setting up a proxy at your house and trying that. <

They use Websense at my work to block us from going to certain sites.  I installed Circumventor on one of my home PC's running Apache as a webserver.  Now I have a personal encrypted password-protected proxy that I can reach any website with from work :)

More info on Circumventor here:
