Has anyone else been getting really crappy download speeds with Optimum Online. This is the second day of my using them but the speed blows. Anyone know anything about this?

i get between 700KB/s to 900KB/s on average.

if you upload alot they will cap your account happen to me. Just call up and say you had kazaa running or some file sharing program and they will adjust your account back.

If you get caught using excessive upload bandwidth they will cap your *upload*. Not your *download*. When they cap it, they set it at 15kbs (100kbps). I had optimum online in NJ, and I got 600kbs downloads for the entire year...

If your upstream was capped, which is not relevant to your post, then yes, you can call and get it adjusted back to normal if it is your "first offense".

I still get terrific downloads and uploads on everything except the newsgroups. I am just unsure if they have somewhat capped newsgroups bandwidth.
