Remember those DIVX CDs that came out a few years? Any programs for the Xbox that can make them work?

I remember those pay per view DVDs from Circuit Shitty. Er um I meant Circuit City  biggrin.gif

Most of the kiddys here are thinking your talking about DiVX. I doubt that they could ever work but who knows. Divx didn't live that long. It didn't even last as long as the Philips CDI/VCD players that they used to sell before DVD existed.

I take it that you can by some of those disc at a garage sale or something and found out that they wouldn't play on your DVD player?

My cousin gave me 10 and they are some good titles, but unfortunately, I have no way of playing them.

Now if your cousin had the divx player. Maybe that could be hacked.

Shanafan is not talking about Divx the MPEG-4 based compression method, he's talking about a special format DVD that was out a few years ago, where you had to use special players and pay to play the discs, or pay a flat fee to unlock them for your player forever.

These are two different things. The latter divx was named after the former as a joke.

No, it was just "divx"

Here's an old page relating to the whole fiasco....

...it should give anybody who doesn't know about the "evil" DIVX plot a bit of background information.

Truthfully, nobody should remain ignorant of this plot, because you can bet Hollywood will try it again in the future.
