I had a problem with error 6..I got so many keys and they all didn't

work for me.Hdd driver didn't  work when i  zero with HDDPreparer..So i

use Norton Ghost 2003 boot disk.I put the original in the first IDE

channel and the NEw HDD in the second IDE channel.In ghost YOU HAVE TO

QUIT..this will bring you to the dos prompt.TYPE "ghost /ir" this will

enable ghost to read in raw mode.Now go (to Local> To disk>Disk) make

sure ur original is the source and the destitaion is the newHDD.Make

the copy....wait about 10 min.

The first problem is that i had the wrong keys...So lock ur original

and install ConfigMagic.<And guess what the "Unique HDD key"  that

LiveInfo and ConfigMagic where different, on my xbox>.So i copied the

"Unique HDD key" from ConfigMagic....don't do backup with config magic

it will give you the same key as liveinfo.<sit their in front of ur TV

and copy it by hand>Should be 32 characters.So load up Liveinfo<load ur

eeprom>now check if the "Unique HDD key" is the same as the one u

copied...If not copy and paste new"Unique HDD key" into the space where

the old key was.....This will generate new calculated password.<write

it down...>

Put newHDD into first IDE channel as master.Lock with "Calculated

Passwod" any app u want.but i use UNLOCKX..
Add original HDD to xbox and load up Config Magic.Once you see ur HDD

in their wait about 10 sec.Now take off IDE cable then power cable.Do

not restart .....Add ur newHDD that was locked...Go into menu<select

Load Xbox EEPROM> wait about 10 sec and if you did it right u will see

ur HDD model # and Serial # change to the HDD you have.<very important

if you did it right u will still have the "Unique HDD key" that you

copied from ur tv screen.Now @ the bottom you will have a new Generated

Password...Copy/print it...NOw just unlock newHDD and lock it with

UNLOCKX...If done right you will be able to boot to ur xbox with eazz.

If ur newHDD doesn't have the "f" partiton to max capacity.You will

have to format it.go to http://xbox-scene.co...les/formatf.php to

format "f" drive.If that doesn't work like it did for me try.. ftp

format @ http://xbox-scene.co...les/hdd-ftp.php Just ignore the

boot disk thing and In raw Command type Formatpath

DeviceHarddisk0Partition6     get the key and then type "FormatDrive

'the number'" go and check in system utils and check if you have a

bigger capacity size..And ur done....

tried it on a v1.0 and 1.3 xbox.And it works great

Can someone explain writing BRFR to offset 0x600 with WinHex?  I must be missing something.  How do you type BRFR in that location.  Hex only goes from 0 to F.  I can write B & F, but not R.  What am I doing wrong?

manually go too the offset and type them in manually. if you can't try a different hex editor.

In binary, you can only type 0 and 1.
In hex, you can only type 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,A,B,C,D,E,F
How do you guys type in a R? (BRFR)

click go to..type the offset..and then type you don't type it in the box that comes up.

i'm having so much trouble with this! i'm not sure if it just my drive or what buy in liveinfo i'm not able to get the calculated password. i'm using Win2000 and in device manager it sees my 80 gig Seagate Barricuda drive (st380011a) but with liveinfo i don't know how to select the drive.  i loaded my xbox's eeprom and it gives my the password for it, but how do i find the password for my seagate hard drive? is my hard drive even lockable? i've put mandrake linux on the drive so should i fdisk the drive or something to clear it?

I had the same problem.  I got around it by configuring the new hd (the one I want to generate a password for) as Master on the Primary cable.  I configured my Win2k disk as a Primary on the Secondary cable.  In the computer BIOS, I set the computer to boot from IDE1 which is the drive sitting on the Secondary cable set as master.

i tried putting the 80 gig as the primary master and win2000 as primary slave, but i liveinfo i still don't know how to select the drive. should it be Physical Drive 1,2, or 3? i have some screenshots if that would help clarify the problem. and in hdprepar when i try to zero the drive it says error writing disk at sector 0. should i use a hex editor or something to change the offsets or whatever?

How necessary exactly is it to remove the original drive and use all these tools on it?

Since I got the key from Config Magic and I made backups of C and E with ftp, I don't really see why I should still connect the original drive to my PC. Or is a simple copy of C and E not enough (ie must use dd or HDD-driver)?

When I changed to a bigger hd, I also thought of that.  The only problem would be how can you format your new hd in fatx.  Also, how large would you make the partitions for the C, E, X, Y, Z drives?

I had no answer to those questions, so that is why I stuck with hdd driver.

I have been trying everything to get this new hard drive in! is their some limitations for win2000 or something with liveinfo? is their any other way to get the hard drive key for my new drive? i heard somewhere that with certain motherboards liveinfo cannot detect a new hard drive. win2000 sees it in device manager but liveinfo just can never see it! can someone please help me?! i'm leaving soon and i'd like to be able to put this in cuz i'm not going to be able to use a comp. for awhile. thanks to anyone!

Almost! i really thought i had it! i tried exactly what deadly said; i used configmagic to get the password for my new hdd, and i got the password for the xbox drive and unlocked both using unlockx and used ghost and waited for 10 minutes until it said that everything from the xbox hard drive had been copied to my new drive.  so then i relocked both drives using their respective keys, and first tried putting the xbox hard drive back in the xbox and it worked, no problems there, then i tried rebooting the xbox with my new hdd and it gave me an error 6! then i figured that maybe it had just copied funny, so i tried unlocking both drives to do it again, but now my xbox hard drive can unlock but the new hdd won't unlock! i can't figure it out! thanks for any help
