Been trying to find info on this. I suspect it can be done.

using XBMC can I play live streams from the internet via XBMC on my TV. ie use the PPstreams for live football and play it on my TV?

thanks

Do you have an example of the stream...website...url...mms:// etc etc etc?

This is the link used in the program PPlive to show the game.  it works on a P2P principle to provide the stream.

synacast sorta sounds like peercast...and there's no support...yet...

if and when these streams become more popular, we might end up seeing them in xbmc depending on how complex the streaming mechanism is to code into xbmc...

one could hope for support, but technically it may not be possible...we get a lot out of xbmc with a 700mhz proc and 64megs of ram, ive yet to look at the mechanism in which these p2p streamers use, but one could only guess it uses a bit of cpu.

I've had some success using a program called getastream. this records the stream from pplive or whatever program you're using, and saves it as an asf file. this file can then be launched in xbmc.
