Hi,

I used the 2006.01.18 T3CH built XBMC and try to play a X264 codec mp4 file and it is very very slow it's not watchable.

Any idea how i can make it play faster? The file i'm talking about is an anime call "One Piece" from kaizoku-fansubs.com. They have the detail regarding the codec and stuff....

Thanks

No possible way. Sorry. H.264 class codecs generally require some serious processing power. The higher the resolution, the more processing power it needs. The general rule is that a 1.5gig P4 processor and 512 megs of ram are the minimum requirements(from what ive read...google it yourself if you want a more accurate picture).

Obviously the XBOX 733mhz proc and 64megs of ram, just wouldn't be enough...

Sorry...

That being said anime groups and apple seem to be the only ones that are really pushing it. And the anime groups still release in xvid(most do at least).

Thanks for the reply.

Just an interesting note, that tiny little Ipod video have more processing power that this noisy, gigantic box in terms of playing H.264 files...... I wonder how apple did that? wink.gif

The res on the ipod is much lower than the files that you are probably trying to play..
