The authors have an enormous job just to get their existing feature set bulletproof.  You can't expect every media format under the sun to be supported.

I dont think the poster said that he expects it, just requesting a feature.

this is a feature I love as well, winamp is using the VP5/6 codec to play this video, which is free for non-commercial use.

after poking around a little more, I found this on the Mplayer site...
