With VOB's you can Fast Forward and Rewind correctly. ok its not that smooth but its still possible.

I cant even FF/RW normal video files nevermind vobs. You can skip forward 1 or 10 minutes but thats about it. DVD menus and playing from the hdd is on the todo list and always has been. But there are so many things that will probably be completed first.

I hate waiting ohmy.gif it will be worth it in the end though smile.gif

Menu handling for dvd has been worked on before, there was an almost complete port from libdvdnav in xbmp.. to many outstanding bugs in it thou which couldn't be solved.

There might be a new opening as an old dev might start looking at it again, or we might pick up his dvd player he is working on.

Don't expect anything in the imidiate future though..

People have been asking for this feature for so long, just did a search and it goes back years.  It seems hard to believe that nobody in the scene has been able to come up with an .ifo player when there are so many DVD players for the PC. If DVDX project had continued it probably would have been almost trivial.

It's a shame because DVD2Xbox which is a great program as it stands is pretty useless as a DVD ripper.

It should be possible to incorporate the api of dvdlib to get incorporated into XBMC, however I believe this is a much difficult process incorporating it, otherwise it would have been done by now I perceive.

However it is a humble request to the devs out there to give this feature a closer look. We all have been waiting for this for a loong time. !

Even if it means to pay for the extra addition, I'm sure most of us wouldn't mind a small fee like $30 or something.. Just my $.02

Do you all prefer this post to be Pinned as a requested feature for XBMC for a while??

How would you go about playing the image files?

Is this development on the horizon or shall we not expect it soon? Any one has any further information on this requested feature.

Should this topic be pinned?

The new version of XBMC looks promising however it crashed when an IFO file is selected to play.

Does any one have the open source for dvdX ?

Does any one have access to XBMC dev's out there?
It would be real nice if we could sign some petition or something to request the dvdLib implementation to get incorporated.

It would be nice if someone could reach out to the devs out at xbmc to let then know that we are all still awaiting this feature from a long time.

What do you'll think?

I guess this feature is just not getting the support and requests as needed. It would help guys if someone knows the dev team of XBMC !

Well, since i am in the team i would say i know them.

As it is now there is noone in the team working on it.

I do not think people know how "few" devs are involved.
I too hope for dvd menu support, but there is a real chanse we wont see it in the near future unless someone posts a patch on sourceforge that can be integrated to the existing code.

dvd image playback is in the features suggestion for version 2.0 of xbmc. (Think of that version 1.0 hasn´t been released yet)

I´ll pin this topic so hopefully new people will read through it and we´ll all be happy about less "spam" here smile.gif
