Xbox-Scene Polls / Did Or Do You Own A Dreamcast?

Definately, this system went before its time.  I actually got the broadband connector where I made backups from originals:)

Xbox360 General / Hardware Chat / Team Xecuter About Xbox 360

Looking at Anandtech's article about the xbox360's mobo, it doesn't have a good picture of the bottom of the mobo.  I don't think it will be as easy to make a modchip for a xbox360 as the original xbox like having a lpc port.  It will probably take a 15+ wires like a ps2 or something like that.

There's a 16MB flash rom chip on the motherboard itself' class='bbc_url' title='External link' rel='nofollow external'>here:

I wouldn't be surprised that someone figures out that this might be the bios or something that you can exploit.

I wouldn't be surprised if the 16MB flash is for its dashboard.

XBE Exploits / Getting Pissed

The Brain is right.  Put your 40gb hard drive and try to format with dos or something to see if it works.  If your computer can detect it, xboxhdm can detect it too.

XBE Exploits / Softmod No Longer See Hd?
« on: September 15, 2005, 05:11:00 PM »
Yeah, I softmodded my first 2 xboxes using SID/AID and I have trouble getting the ms dashboard back.  When I softmodded the 3rd xbox using krayzie's ndure, I was able to get the ms dashboard to fix one of the first xboxes that was messed up.

I have to agree with solder_blob that an idiot who didn't take a backup of the eeprom hddkey and screw up the c:\ or the e:\ drive that would force him to go get an mod chip to fix the softmodded xbox...

I have done it before, but there are limitations.  Since Ghost can't recognize fatx or let alone expand it, it is best if you clone hard drive of the exactly same size or larger.  So if you clone from a 160gb to a 200gb hard drive, you only be able to use 160gb of the new drive, and the extra 40gbs are wasted.

Make sure your hard drives are unlocked, duh.  In ghost, you can type in 'ghost -ir', which allows you to copy the entire hard drive as is.  Choose source and destination, and walla.

Another thing I noticed is that not all 'same size' hard drives are the same.  For example, I noticed that maxtor 160gb hard drive have about 4gb more in diskspace than seagate or western digital.

Team DMS Chips (X-B.I.T) / My Xbit Is Giving Me Problems, Please Help
« on: August 12, 2005, 01:48:00 PM »
The problem is with the mod chip, mostly connection problems with the d0 point.  It happened to my xbox too until I pulled out my xbit chip and got a duox2 instead.

Team DMS Chips (X-B.I.T) / Intermittent Problems With Xbit Chip...

The thing is that I also had a matrix solderless modchip and I never have any issues with that chip.

Thanks, I might have to resort to that.  There's a local installer who is willing to install the duox2 chip for $35 with the chip.  I might as well go for that...

Team DMS Chips (X-B.I.T) / Intermittent Problems With Xbit Chip...
« on: August 01, 2005, 04:51:00 PM »
Okay, just installed the xbit modchip about a few weeks ago and it worked like a charm.  Once in a while when I turn on the xbox it would boot as if the modchip is disabled.  Then I turned it off and turn it back on again, and it booted up with the modchip enabled.

Some other time, it would boot up where I see the green light blink 2 times, and it would frag without any display in the screen.  Turn it off and on a few times and it would be fine.

Somehow what I got the consensus here is that this modchip sucks and I am thinking of just getting a cheap duox2 soldered instead.  Oh I got an xbox 1.0 and I didn't solder the chip... Thanks.

Matrix & Chameleon Modchips / Matrix Mod Chip Dead?
« on: June 22, 2005, 10:26:00 PM »
I doubt that the modchip is the problem.  You should try a different game, or try loading the game from the hard drive.  If you think the mod chip is the problem you can try to program it with the lpc adapter.

I hacked my xbox a year ago with an old xbox 1.0 with an old matrix mod chip.  Some of my backups won't boot of from my hard drive and realized that I needed an evox m7 bin file.  So, if someone can e-mail me instructions or e-mail me the actual file, that would be great.

What kind of dvd-rom drive it comes with it?

I don't think there's anything wrong about those questions.  What if the person really owns the game and just want to play with the backup without scratching the original?  (although it would probably be unlikely)  These people didn't mention anything about, "I went to blockbuster and rented the game and I would like to make a backup of it."  After all, I saw those stickies about how to make the game fitting onto a dvd-r... and there's a forum for iso backups, is this the purpose of that forum?

While I am talking about pirating software.  A few months back I brought a refurbished (pc) motherboard that comes with no manuals or software.  After some frustration looking for software for the motherboard, I put up a post in the pc forum and some butthead said that I was requesting pirated software.  It seems that some 'moderator wanabes' here have nothing to do except being a pain in the ass...
