Newbie Chat / Has Anyone Tried To Get An Ssd To Work Yet?
« on: July 04, 2013, 05:04:00 PM »
The only reason I've considered it is to bring a 360 with me on a long road trip for the kids (and for when I can get my wife to drive).  Beyond that, the cost per gigabyte makes very little cents.

step0) use xell to get your cpukey
step1) use nand flasher 360 v1.20 for xbox 360 to dump your nand
step2) use xebuild gui 2.08 to generate your new hacked image; if need be, you could post the output here (log) so that someone else can make sure you didn't goof anything up
step3) use nand flash 360 v1.20 for xbox 360 to flash the new image

Newbie Chat / If I Do A Factory Reset In The M$ Dashboard...

  • nothing bad will occur by doing a factory reset.
  • you could simply open up your nand in 360 flash dump tool to get the passcode.

see: reset code is in 360 flash dump tool's smc config editor.

need more info;

what LT+ version was on your system?
what was the dashboard revision before the update?
did you consider reading anything about system updates before accepting the update?

Newbie Chat / Xbox 360 Opening Tool

Great feedback

I have an phat Xbox360. I managed to open it with a paper clip, but I thought it might be worth investing a few dollars in the tool to make my life easier...

i've also used a paperclip on a pinch, and to be honest it's not that much slower than using the fat opening tool - it's just a little bit more of a struggle.  and.. i actually /like/ the fat opening tool.

I bought that slim kit you are talking about a while back and I actually use it the way you are supposed to and once you get it down it does work good and you have less chances of breaking any tabs or scratching anything.

i also went in for that, d-x had it on sale for $4-$6 shipped or something like that.

i only use two parts of it -- and the ice pick is only used /sparingly/.  i use the long letter-opener piece and that's it.

for opening the back, though on the "tough" side (power connector): i slide the letter-opener to release the left-of-power-connector tab; i then peel back the warranty sticker, apply opening pressure to the clams (by spreading my hand), and then use a very small flat head screwdriver right under the warranty sticker to pop the troublesome tab.

using all of the parts.. well, i imagine that it could work, it's just you need to really understand how/where to place them .. frustration got the best of me so i never went back after trying twice.  tbh, even if i knew where to play them, i think my current method would still be faster.

Newbie Chat / Slim Liteon Dg-16d4s 9504 Update

More than likely, you'll need either an X360USB or a Lizard.

It'd be a little surprising if you didn't already have LT+3.0... are you sure you don't have this?

Back to your inquiry: head over to and grab the tutorial and read through it.

Newbie Chat / Retail Games Showing Up As Homebrew?
« on: July 13, 2012, 10:03:00 AM »
check your game paths in the settings: maybe you've got it set to assign a folder to homebrew.

reset your fsd install and rescan & reimport.

if you're not willing to do this, you can always move the games manually either via fsd's http interface or via fsd itself.

Newbie Chat / Xbox Slim Heat
« on: July 02, 2012, 01:49:00 PM »
wow; i would rip it open immediately and check to see if the thermal paste is even remotely in place: i would do not much more than that than return the box to the store.

the power adapter will work just fine, and it's only $5.  that said, the 203w PSUs are /loud/ relative to the 150w jasper or the slim PSUs.  if noise is an issue, and you don't mind spending $20 more, go get a 10.83a slim PSU.

if the box is already running a 15574 xebuild image, go ahead and grab the official 15574 update from microsoft and apply it.

Newbie Chat / Rgh Updated Then Flashed To Old Dash
« on: June 27, 2012, 02:04:00 AM »
i don't /quite/ follow what you did, but it sounds like you flashed an old gg/xebuild image with a lower CF LDV onto your system that had been updated since that image was built.

in that case, simply rebuild a new xebuild image (or retail image) based on your previous xebuild or original nand dump.  however, in options.ini, edit cfldv= to match what it should be.

(what it should be depends on the number of updates you've done since that dump was made + that dump's cfldv).

you want to make sure you install dashlaunch as well - just rerun the fsd installer.
